• O.S.S. Word Search: Students will search for vocabulary words that consist of key terms and ideas from The Power of Bystanders story. Word search worksheet included.
• Get Your Strong Words Out: Students will practice using STRONG words that could help bullying victims that are in need of a bystander. Worksheet included.
• Bully Box: Students will work on an art project and practice reporting bullying incidents at school. Forms included.
• O.S.S. Memory Game: Students will use memorization skills during a memory game, and review concepts from the story regarding bullying. Memory Game Cards included.
• O.S.S. Board Game: Students will use reading comprehension and practice good sportsmanship during the B.O.S.S. Board Game. Materials included.
• Give a High Five: Students will practice giving and receiving compliments and recognize good qualities in one another while drawing an art project.
• Bling Bling B.O.S.S. Chain and Bracelets: Students will practice teamwork, social skills, and creativity while creative slogans for bullying prevention. Worksheet included.

These downloadable activities include explanation of objective, list of materials needed, instructions, and any templates/worksheets needed to facilitate the activity. It is recommended that you read The Power of Bystanders to facilitate discussion while using these downloadable activities.

Kip Jones, a.k.a. ‘Mr. J,’ is a guidance counselor at Alcoa Elementary School in Alcoa, Tennessee, where he resides with his family. Mr. J. uses what he calls “bibliorhymology” in his Willie Bohanon books, an Urban Character Education series that also includes a rap song, dance, and worksheets.
